The Rundown: Joy and Colson go into the breach and discover the dark and unknown.
Colson and his team decide that they are going to enter the black hole to investigate the phenomenon and bring the woman who emerged from it with them. Alongside the scientists, they enlist a group of mercenaries to join them to investigate some of the people that were lost within it.
After entering the black hole, the group finds themselves witnessing some interesting phenomenon before they are attacked by an unknown creature. A creature that will lure away Art and the rest have to decide whether to leave or move forward.
The Story: I really enjoyed this follow up from Kaplan. The story continues to create an interesting balance between the interpersonal conflict and the fantastical danger the characters are possibly facing. The story and premise have elements of The Abyss for me and I really enjoy that, especially how unknown the creatures in the black hole are and the mysteries being developed within the story. I’m definitely engaged after this issue and want to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Chris Chehan delivers some beautiful art in the issue. I continue to enjoy the character designs as well as the design of the environments. A great looking issue.
